Cranial Osteopathy
Cranial Osteopathy is a gentle osteopathic manipulative technique that balances the motions of the cranial bones and the surrounding tissues to empower the body's innate healing ability. It is non-invasive, safe, and incorporates emotional and energetic aspects of health to foster equilibrium and overall wellness.

What Cranial Osteopathy Is
Cranial Osteopathy is a true holistic approach that integrates the body's systems. It was developed by Dr. William Sutherland in the mid-1900s, building on the osteopathic principles of Dr. A.T. Still — the founder of osteopathic medicine — and is typically practiced exclusively by Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine.
The approach is based on the rhythmic motion of the cranial bones (the skull bones) and the sacrum (a triangular bone in the lower back). That rhythm — known as the Primary Respiratory Mechanism — is thought to be directed by the cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds and protects the brain and spinal cord, and to have a deep connection with the body's physiological systems. Disruptions or restrictions in that mechanism can show up as health concerns, and normalizing the rhythm promotes the body's natural healing.
Cranial osteopathy goes well beyond the physical structures of the head. It involves understanding the relationships between body systems and recognizing how an imbalance in one area can affect another. Patients often report relaxation, warmth, pulsation, and even emotional release during sessions.
It can be used at any age — in adults and children alike. Used very gently, it can support infants through discomfort and colic; the hands-on approach has a soothing effect on babies and can help address tensions that may have developed during birth.
Digestive Conditions
Cranial Osteopathy can be used in a variety of digestive conditions for both adults and children, including:

Neurologic, Headache & Fatigue Conditions

Why Whole Gut Health is different
At Whole Gut Health, we go beyond conventional symptom management and traditional functional medicine protocols. We trust your body's innate ability to heal itself when given the right support.
In Dr. Shustina's many years of practice, she has seen that many digestive diseases have their root cause in emotional traumas and unhealed wounds. When these underlying causes are healed, the body can heal from the inside out in a lasting way.
We focus on the mind-gut connection, incorporating energy healing techniques, personalized nutrition that evolves as you heal, and integrative approaches addressing mind, body, and spirit. If this resonates with you, contact our office to schedule your consultation and take the first step on your healing journey.
